Everything changes in Ramadan. The atmosphere becomes livelier, as the spirit changes since people start visiting each other and spending more time with family and friends. The sound of prayer fills the air and individuals pray “Taraweeh” prayers in harmony. The night is very vivid. People’s hearts soften. Love binds them together. Families are united together at the Iftar meal. This is very important because during normal days, based on work hours, families might have different timings for meals. In Ramadan, however, families are united almost every day at this specific timing since they all finish work based on Ramadan hours, as opposed to gathering on weekends only. That is how our life quickly turns around when we welcome the holy month of Ramadan!

Ramadan is a heart-warming month where people surge the acts of giving and generosity. Many individuals as well as communities actively work to distribute necessities for those in need, including food and clothing. Ramadan is a perfect time to start volunteering with charity organizations, helping in distributing the different supplies for people in need.

The UAE is a community that effectively and prominently recognizes the importance of giving back to the community. The Dubai Moms group, an organization responsible for distributing healthy food, carried out its fourth week of distributing healthy food to UAE labor on Friday, the 3rd of June. The objective of this initiative is to ensure that UAE labor workers have a variation of fruits and vegetables in their diet. The Dubai Moms also teamed up with Coega Sunwear and Amana Contracting, which further helped them to carry on with the distribution. Coega Sunwear supplied 500 pairs of swimwear so that the labor can enjoy the beaches. Furthermore, the Amana Group provided AED 50 vouchers from LuLu Supermarket, giving a total of AED 5,000.

So far, The Dubai Moms group has been able to reach over 1,200 workers. However, that’s not the end of it. They wish to reach 2,500 workers during the course of their five-week campaign. They wish to keep growing with the effort of many volunteers.

Of course, you can get involved too! You can volunteer with The Dubai Moms group by donating 10 bags of fruits and vegetables. Each bag must be of at least 2 kgs.
